Dr. Nilson, MY HERO!
by catpratt at Citysearch
Let me begin by saying that i found Dr. Nilson based on a review i had read on this very site. I was considered "high risk" and very far along in my 2nd pregnancy (I'm a Navy wife and was staying with my parents in SE Kansas beginning my 4th month of pregnancy while my husband was on deployment). My first born was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 9 months old so we knew that it was a definite possibility that our 2nd baby could have the inherited condition. So, being new to the area, no one in the Tulsa area would even consider seeing me for OB care. And then I contacted Dr. Nilson, what a DREAM of a doctor and staff! Not only did he take the most wonderful care of me, but he calmed me right down and helped bring my anxiety level down to zero. My Labor and Delivery was PAIN FREE!!!!!! NO JOKE! After having my first child, I just assumed that childbirth had to be awful and unbearable. I practically worship Dr. Nilson, and this review is 100% real, I'm a real patient with a real experience! I am now pregnant with my 3rd baby and living in Washington State with some of the best doctors on earth... but i know in my heart that NOT ONE compares to Dr. Nilson. So I'll save up and try to fly in to Tulsa before the birth of this baby so I can have another Dreamy Experience with Dr. Nilson. By the way, his team is amazing as well!! Stevie and Hayley were just wonderful people and a pleasure to see and visit with! I love you Dr. Nilson!
- Pros: The entire experience!
- Cons: Absolutely nothing bad to say whatsoever.
Awesome Doctor!!

I made an appointment with my original doctor (not Dr. Nilson) when I found out I was pregnant for the second time. A week before my appointment I started bleeding and my doctors office wouldn't let me come in early. I was told "Honey, you just need to go check yourself into the emergency room." I called Dr. Nilson's office and they got me in THE SAME DAY! I did end up having a miscarriage and Dr.Nilson did the D&C. He was very through and calmly explained everything to me. He also took the time to explain it was not my fault (which is nice to hear.) I am currently pregnant again and am very proud to say I am going to Dr. Nilson and not Dr.Cox. If anybody is looking for a great doctor that takes his time (did not rush) Dr. Nilson was great for our family!....lets face it-doctors aren't there to have tea and eat cookies with us. They are there to do the best job they can. I have no complaints!
Lets get serious here...

I had an extremely high risk pregnancy and was under Dr. Nilsons care. He never took the time to address any of my concerns, I had to practically beg him to put me on something to help stop contractions. He did not do the proper bloodwork or monitoring for my pregnancy. He rushed through apts. At my 6 week check up he didnt even look at my incision, didn't do a pap or pelvic even though I told him I had a knot with pain behind my incision and these ARE necessary after child birth, now I have to find another ob/gyn to look at my incision and do a pap because you apparently can not depend on him to give you what you NEED.
He has a good personality, but he is absolutely no where near the best. I think most people give him good reviews because he gives an u/s at each prenatal apt. and he is very... goofy. If you want someone that you can and SHOULD feel safe with, go elsewhere. I would recommend Dr. Williamson in the same office.
- Pros: Office staff is great
- Cons: Rushed, does not listen to concerns
Dr. Nilson Rocks!
by kinzersandel at Citysearch
Dr. Nilson is the best! My husband jokes that I became pregnant again after our first daughter was 2 yrs old b/c I missed my visits with Dr. Nilson!
After a horrible pregnancy/labor with my now 15 yr old, I was more than hesitant to give birth again. A friend recommended Dr. Nilson and we now have a 3 yr old and 1 yr old daughter. He made my pregnancies bearable and most importantly my labors were wonderful and he was in attendance for both!
HE IS THE BEST!
- Pros: My 3rd child is here because of Dr. Nilson!
- Cons: He doesn't have a midtown location.

Dr Coleman is a wonderful doctor! He delivered our first child and made the experience better by being caring and understanding! I recommend him to everyone I meet! :)
rushed

I really liked Dr. Nilson and his staff, however, I always seemed to leave there feeling like "what just happend?" Dr. Nilson never writes anything down, and just seems to be rushed, my visits last a whole 5 to 10 minutes with Dr. Nilson, and that includes the ultrasounds he gives. He doesn't even take the time to explain things in the ultrasound. Like I said before, I end up leaving there with more questions then I came with. He is a good doctor if you want a doctor that acts more like your brother than a doctor.
- Pros: nice doctor and stafff
- Cons: feel rushed
Wouldn't go any place else

After my second child I was told about Dr. Nilson and how wonderful he was. When we started trying for our 3rd I switched over to him and absolutely adored him. I have 5 of my friends now going to him and they all are very happy too. He is quite the character, makes you feel comfortable, he even sang to me while he was delivering my 3rd son by c-section. It completely put me at ease and calmed my fears even though I had been through it twice before. I love that guy and will never go anywhere else.
- Pros: staff, doctors, clean
- Cons: wait time
Never a number here!

My husband and I moved here 18 months ago. We had been trying to have our 2nd baby for almost 3 yrs. Our son was turning 6 and now praying for a sibling himself. I felt we had been patient and exhausted all of our resources (ovul pred. kits, etc) Being new to Tulsa, I asked around for ob/gyn recommendations. Being told that I would just "love Dr. Nilson", I made an appt. I dread the yearly rolling around mostly due to my bad case of modesty and I was not looking forward to this appt. Once Dr Nilson listened to us, he began to aggressively identify our issues. Finding that we had a pretty significant problem, he wasted no time in laying out our options before us. We were confident that he was not wasting our time, our money or trampling our emotions. In fact, he kept our hopes high and my insane level of nervousness and modesty at a more than tolerable level. He's positive ALL THE TIME, not admitting defeat or letting you feel defeated until he's sure of the result. He's absolutely hilarious, but so real and easy to talk things over with. He honestly makes you feel that you're 1 of 10 patients instead of 1 of 1000's. Stevie and Hailey are fantastic. They're sweet, knowledgeable and kind. You feel like your sister's in the room! I'm not sure I've ever been in another environment where they worked so hard to make you feel cared for. Dr. Nilson immediately gains your trust and it only builds after that. My journey is not over. I am not sure of our next step. I do know that if I ever get to hear the words, "you are going to have a baby" again, I only want to hear them from Dr. Nilson himself! He is an amazing doctor whom I would recommend no matter what your ob/gyn needs. I also don't get the hubbub about wait times, I have never experienced an extended wait. (but who cares if you do, if you want the best, sometimes you have to wait for it!) I know that I was in the best of hands each time I walked into that office!
- Pros: Friendly staff and environment, Quality of care, Trust of Doctor
- Cons: NONE

Dr. Nilson is technically wonderful, but so easy to talk to and he listens to what his patients want. Just had my second baby and had a great experience. Although Dr. Nilson has a crazy and hyper personality, he knows when to be serious. He got me emotionally through fertility and miscarriage issues and he seems to really understand women's emotional states. I would not trust anyone else with my healthcare.
- Pros: Funny, Compassionate, Superior technical skills, personable
- Cons: Waiting time
Great Doctor

I recently delivered baby #3 and all three times Dr. Nilson has been absolutely wonderful. Like everyone else the wait can be long ( as much as an hour or more) but I think it's worth it when it comes to my health and that of my baby. He's been doing this a long time and knows what he's doing. He takes the time to answer any questions and lets you know exactly what to expect. His staff is also wonderful. Many refer to my husband and I by our first name which makes us feel right at home. They are quick to respond to calls when you have a question and will go beyond their "job duty" to help you. I highly recommend Dr. Nilson or his associate Dr. Williamson.
- Pros: Wonderful Doctor and Wonderful Staff
- Cons: Wait Time
