Rib-Sticking Burgers -- Tulsa Style!. Oklahoma-and Tulsa-takes its burgers seriously. I have heard many people advocate, loudly, for dozens of burger joints in T-town. In my view, Goldie's Patio Grill remains the best burger in town. My opinion has not changed in 27 years, despite their franchising.

For starters, Goldies' burgers are BIG. Even a single burger will fill you up. If you order a double burger you can safely skip your next meal- they are THAT BIG. Then there's the seasoning. Goldie's uses a special seasoned salt (their secret recipe) that imparts a heavenly flavor. For that reason I usually order the standard with no other adornments than cheese (and sometimes I skip that) and ketchup. There are fancier options available, too-sometimes I'll have the "Angel Fire" (burger topped by a green chile, jack cheese and a tasty picante sauce). There are other options available, too-you can't go wrong. Your burger will be cooked up fresh, arrive piping hot and oozing juices. The bun gets attention, too-it gets a spin on the grill so it's nice, hot and toasty. That first bite into your burger is incredible! It's a good thing each table has napkin dispensers, because you'll need plenty of them-the burgers are THAT juicy.

Don't miss the Pickle Bar. You can "pig out" on wonderful bread and butter pickles (which remind me of what my grandmother used to "put up" every summer), hamburger dill slices and dill wedges.

Goldie's now has dinner plates available, include steaks. I haven't had the steaks, because I always want the burgers.

Many restaurants slip in quality when they start franchising. Thankfully, that hasn't happened to Goldie's. I only wish the location at 21st & Garnett (near my home) wasn't closed. Oh well-Goldie's is worth a special trip.
