Tips for Mary's Italian Trattoria

Loooooong wait, food not great... :-(. Coming from Europe myself I liked the interior, the ditsy aprins and old familyphotos and your great aunts crochet work on the tables... to me it seemed very cute, welcoming and a break from Tulsa's chain restaurants.

It took only a few minutes to be seated and we were waited on by a nice waiter. The poor guy was obviously battling a bad case of gingivitis. His smelly breath did not take away from first impression though, it was merely distracting while he was reciting the menu items they were out of . He gave it a positive spin though, He said ; " we have EVERYTHING on the menu EXCEPT for... breadsticks, lasagna, stuffed ravioli and we are also out of ..."

We ordered from the limited menu and waited.... and waited .... and waited some more... less and less enchanted by the interior and the waiter's breath became more and more nauseating...

We waited for a good 50 minutes before we had our meal.

The food itself was dissaponting to me... I expected a taste of the real Italy; fresh pasta, aromatic herbs and fresh tomatoes ... real bread with garlic butter or a nice olive oil dip...

Alas!

The food was dull and needed much spicing up...

not worth the wait,

Sorry Mary.

Non-descript fine dining. Nice little hole-in-the-wall place along Cherry Street.

Good pasta and good service.

My only complaint is that the bread they serve isn't rustic, hardy Italian...that would be nice to sop up some of the delicious sauce!

They could do a little more work on their wine selection as well, but given the fact that space is limited, I understand.

Tulsa's best Italian. Some of the other whiney reviews must be from managers/employees/stockholders of Olive Garden or Johnny Carinos. This place rocks for real Italian food. Sure, if you're used to those other places Mary's food tastes different. It's REAL and not canned, frozen or microwaved. Highly recommend the pesto bread, chicken parmesan and ANY of the desserts. Everything is made from scratch. Quaint, romantic and way above the rest. If you want speedy service, or a place to take your kids, just stay home or go to Zios.

Average Italian. Baked artichoke appetizer was good and so was the Ceaser salad. Unfortunatley the entrees were very average. I had the Lasgne and Fettucine alfredo combo. The lasgne was good, but the alfredo was flavorless. My girlfriend had the tortelinni with pesto, again it was very average. For the most part the entrees just lack flavor. The bread served with the meal was below averge. The wine selction is also very poor. I think there were 8 selections. Did not try desert. I had eaten at Mary's several years and don't remember being impressed. I thought I would try again. I can't recommend eating here.

For a Quaint Italian Dining Experience...... Excellent food from scratch! No canned tomato taste here. Great desserts. Loved the decor, unique and interesting to look at. Wait seems long (when its busy) but when I asked the owner about it, I was told each meal is made individually and it takes more time, ( its worth it). If you need to eat and run probably need to find a chain restaurant. But for a great dining experience with good food, wine and friends, I highly recommend it.

Good Food, cheapskates. Mary's is in a great location and offers some true Italian meals not seen at Zios or Olive Garden. The food is great, the seating a little off the norm and the prices are fair.

What kills this place is two things. First the bread is below par and is something I would feed to the birds if it were in my house. Second, the service is either understaffed or clueless. Every time I have gone to Mary's we have been there at least 90 minutes.
