Amazing Alternative Academy. Just to say that the Alternative is full of wonderful caring teachers is a complete understatement! These wonderful individuals go above and beyond any teacher I have ever met! (we have 6 kids so we've known a lot of teachers over the years!) My son and daughter-in-law attended the Academy and thrived! My son for only 1 year, my daughter-in-law for 2 years. We have a daughter attending this semester and hopefully next year. I have witnessed the teachers talking with students and making them feel welcomes, wanted and loved just by showing they care. Talking with the kids, helping them through personal situations that maybe was too difficult to talk to anyone else about; being an ear or shoulder when the teen needed it. To me, that is more than any other teacher has done and this is from every person from the receptionist to the principal. My son is now in the Army, Old Guard, and when he comes home on leave he makes a point to go and visit. They love Mrs. Renz, Mr. Castle and Ms. Rubin; but all the teachers are great!

Because it is a small school, they get to know their students and their potential; and expect you to live up to that potential with guidance and encouragement. They are some of the best cheerleaders for these kids, pushing them to success!

Just wanted to add.... I'd just like to say that I went to the Academy myself and got kicked out too. But I'm not going to blame someone else (Like Mrs. Renz for example) for something that I did. If she kicked you out for getting made fun of, did it ever occur to you she was doing it for you? No you didn't because you obviously didn't realize how great it is there. In my entire life, the Academy has been the only school I have ever actually wanted to wake up and attend. Your just ungrateful, and your shifting blame in the wrong direction.

Don't Believe Kayla's Comment!. Broken Arrow Alternative Academy is a great school with wonderful teachers who truly care about their students. If it weren't for the academy, a number of my classmates would have NEVER received a high school diploma. The drive and determination of the teachers reflects the students success. However, each student must accept responsiblity for their OWN actions at some point! The teachers can only provide you with the "tools" to succeed. YOU, the student must do the "digging"!

Mrs. Cooper (Rimz) is an excellent principal who supports all of her students. I don't feel at all that Kayla was singled out or treated different because she is a female! Other students could argue that she favored females students because a number of us loved her! Keep On Rocking Alternative!

I feel sorry for your kids. The Academy's principal is a horriable person. Debbie Cooper is a lyer and does not care about the well being of the school. I attended the academy for almost four years, and she kicked me out because I was being picked on at school. She is also a Sexist, she prefers her male students over the females. I suguest that you UNENROLL your student at once, they would be better off at a concentration camp.
