In Short – Founded in 1983, this high-tech haven is recognizable by its blue, box-like building stamped with a yellow price tag-shaped logo. Explore the wide, gadget-lined aisles and find brand-name goods including personal computers, video games, TVs, digital cameras, cell phones and fax machines. Choose from a slew of popular brands such as Canon, Microsoft, Samsung and Sony. In-house installation services are available for most car audio and video systems, home entertainment systems, satellite hook-up, and home appliances.
Editor's Tips
- The Extras:
- If your computer crashes in the middle of a last-minute project, don't freak out, just call the Geek Squad, Best Buy's affiliate 24/7 computer-support task force. See website for details.
- Know Before You Go:
- Before you hop in your car, check the weekly online-only sales event Hot Deals Wednesday for savings on computers, cameras, electronics and appliances.
- Look Good:
- Don't get stuck with a lemon: Purchase the optional Performance Service Plan with your product to ensure long-lasting performance.
HORRIBLE EMPLOYEES! Care nothing about the customer.

I will NEVER shop with these poor excuses for humans again. When I bought my laptop a few years ago, I bought the protection plan and when my laptop broke this past April, they were supposed to replace it. First, one geek squad employee didn't even bother to send it off because he "was swamped and having a bad day" although he knew I was due to move to England soon and this was my only opportunity to collect it. Later, after I'd left the country, I heard various stories from various different, inexperienced people who had no idea what they were talking about and although it had been cleared that a family member would come pick it up, they refused to give it to my sister and the MANAGER even went so far as to THREATEN her with no service, saying now she would never get my laptop and that it would be junked. Eventually after causing enough of a scene in the store, she was given my laptop and they even had the nerve to offer another protection plan! Please never shop here, go to Radio Shack or PC World, at least those people actually care about their customers and know what they are talking about instead of just spouting whatever trash comes to their mushy minds.
These people are so slow, I wasn't even given it until now, September, 5 MONTHS LATER.
- Pros: NOTHING! Just want your money.
- Cons: EVERYTHING (see below)
